Laredo City Council on Tuesday voted to apply for a $9.2 million loan in order to develop the Hachar-Reuthniger Road, a future highway meant to alleviate traffic on Mines Road by connecting it to I-35 a ways north of Loop 20.
This loan will pay for the the city’s obligation to this $59 million road project, the remainder of which is being paid for by Webb County and the state. ....

The City of Laredo issued a lockdown of in response to the coronavirus threat on Tuesday. The order goes into effect at midnight Wednesday and will extend for 14 days. It prohibits the gathering of 10 or more persons and closes malls, entertainment centers, fitness centers and banquet halls. It allows restaurants to open only with drive-thru, delivery or take out service. Essential businesses like medical facilities, veterinarian and grocery establishments are allowed. Offices spaces and places of employment can remain open as long the 10-person rule is followed. Violation of the carries a fine that ranges from $50 to $2,000.
