London, KY, USA / SAM 103.9 FM WWEL | Today's Pop Hits Dec 22, 2020 12:56 PM Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Deputy Taylor McDaniel along with Lieut. Chris Edwards arrested two people after a high speed chase. Officers attempted to pull over a car about 12 miles east of London. The driver, later identified as 45-year-old Christopher Buttree, refused to comply leading deputies on a high speed chase on Hwy 472. Police say the car reached speeds of up to 115 mph and passed vehicles on the wrong side of the road. Buttree ended up hitting a tree on Bray Creek Road on the edge of Clay County ending the pursuit. Police say Buttree got out of the car and threw a 9mm handgun out in front of him. Buttree is a convicted felon. He was also determined to be under the influence. A passenger, 46-year-old Susie Scalf of London was wanted on a parole violation. Both were arrested and lodged in Laurel County Correctional Center. Assisting on the pursuit and arrests were Detective Reed, Deputy Turner, Deputy Etherton and Deputy Messer. Also assisting was Clay County Sheriff’s office, Manchester City Police, Fish and Wildlife officers, and Kentucky State Police.
