McKee steps out of the shadows, into void left by Raimondo WARWICK — Lt. Gov. Dan McKee is introducing himself to Rhode Islanders all over again. After six years in Rhode Island's least-appreciated statewide office, McKee stepped before cameras at a restaurant function hall Thursday to explain how he'll fill the shoes of Gov. Gina Raimondo, the top executive and political personality at the State House. He talked about his experience as mayor of Cumberland, his time coaching basketball at the Boys Club his father co-founded, and his role as a sounding board for small-business owners. The next election is nearly two years away, but at times he sounded like a new candidate kicking off a campaign.
