MG5 EV's £225 roof rails are 'for decoration only' and

MG5 EV is an all-electric family estate car priced from £24,495
Roof rails are standard, though buyers can also purchase luggage bars and a bicycle rack for £420 as an optional extra 
The owner's manual says the rails are for decorative purposes only
It also warns that using them to carry any weight at all could make it unsafe
The brand has refused to recall the issue and says it is waiting for confirmation of the roof loading capacity from its engineers
