The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce has been named one of the nation's top economic development organizations alongside groups that represent some the largest metro areas in America. This is the second consecutive year the chamber has been honored by Site Selection magazine, based on a metric that analyzes corporate investments and new jobs per capita. The chamber announced Monday it would receive the Mac Conway Award for Excellence in Economic Development, as will the other 20 organizations named by the magazine. Those include the Austin (Texas) Chamber, The Greater Chattanooga (Tenn.) Economic Partnership and World Business Chicago, among others. Montgomery announced 26 new or expanding industrial projects in 2020, including a $26 million Dollar General distribution center, the first U.S. production facility for auto parts manufacturer OEMS and the addition of the Tucson SUV to the production line at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama.
