N.J. COVID updates: State’s models predict continued climb in cases, hospitalizations; 15 million J&J vaccination doses ruined; Here’s the latest. (April 1, 2021) Updated 10:02 AM; Gov. Phil Murphy’s administration released new coronavirus models on Wednesday, both of which called for an increase in cases and hospitalizations in the coming weeks. A moderate model says hospitalizations will peak in 17 days at 2,669 people — nearly 400 more patients than the state’s current total. A worst-case model predicts 3,644 people will be hospitalized on May 18 before numbers start to again decrease. The more dire model projects officials will report an additional 8,162 cases that day.
