When a baby’s on the way, it doesn’t care what your plans are, it’s go time, right? But if you’re an NBA star about to play a game . . . it’s a different story, apparently. In April,
Andrew Wiggins, who plays for the Golden State Warriors, was getting ready for a regular season game when his girlfriend,
Mychal M. Johnson, went into labor. But instead of rushing to the hospital, he reportedly delayed her being induced so he could play ball.
The story was revealed by
Connor Letorneau, Warriors reporter for the “San Francisco Chronicle,” during his “Warriors Off Court” podcast. He was defending Andrew from critics who said he “doesn’t care” and “that he’s apathetic.” Connor explained that a couple weeks ago, Andrew’s girlfriend was going into labor and “he had her delay things so that he can play a regular-season NBA game,” adding, “Immediately after the game was over, he was like, ‘Yep, time to induce labor. I’ll be there.’”
