New Fannie Lou Hamer documentary showcases the activist's story through her voice

Fannie Lou Hamer was one of the prominent voices of the civil rights era, bloodied in the fight for voting rights. The daughter of Mississippi sharecroppers called out police brutality and economic inequality on a national stage. In "Fannie Lou Hamer’s America" Chicago director Joy Davenport takes us through Hamer's story in her own voice with some never-before-seen photos and rare footage of her family.
