New Omicron Subvariant Surging in U.S.

A new subvariant of Omicron is responsible for a surge in domestic COVID-19 cases, according to the CDC. Called XBB, it accounted for 3.6% of total cases in the United States during the last week of 2022. Its cousin, XBB.1.5, was responsible for 40.5%.
