TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The No. 1-seeded Florida State men's golf team played a fantastic round during the first day of the NCAA Men's Golf Regional, as it finished with a combined score of 17-under 271 at the newly renovated Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee.
Four of the five players for the Seminoles shot 4-under 68 or better throughout the first round of play. This led to FSU recording its lowest aggregate score ever in a single round of NCAA play, as well as their lowest team score of the season.
"It was a great start for our team," head coach Trey Jones said about FSU’s performance during Monday’s round. "We've been really focused for the last two weeks and after coming off of a heartbreaking ACC [tournament loss] wondering how they were going to handle it; they've been business every single day and I think today was just a reflection of that the way that they came out."
