Authorities reported 600 car accidents and two storm-related deaths, prompting New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to declare a state of emergency for 18 counties due to the heavy snowstorm. Residents of New York City, Philadelphia, and Boston had between six to 12 inches of snow and continued to fall through the morning. The National Weather Service reported that New York's Central Park had 10.5 inches of snow as of Thursday afternoon, while Wellsboro, Pennsylvania got 18.8 inches of snow. Albany, New York had more than 22 inches of snow. Meanwhile, Binghamton, New York had nearly 40 inches of snow, the largest snowstorm recorded since 1951.
