The biographical drama “Mank,” which leads this year’s nominations with 10, brings viewers the story of alcoholic screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz, (Gary Oldman), as he races to finish one of cinema’s most popular masterpieces, “Citizen Kane.”
“The Trial of the Chicago 7,” nominated for six awards, recreates the highly controversial trial of seven Americans (Eddie Redmayne, Sacha Baron Cohen, Daniel Flaherty, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, among others) accused of inciting riots during the 1968 Democratic National Convention.
