Misti couldn’t ask for more from her daughter. “To see people — even when it was that kid from a two-parent household, they couldn’t come up with any excuses of a broken household or the father was absent or any other bologna excuses for why my kid was gay — there was none of that,” Misti said. "There was no way they could point to that and she was still treated like dog doo. So I can't even imagine what it's like for kids, that one, don't have a safe place at home and don't have those adults or friends in their lives that they can turn to.”
