The Police ICT Company is making plans for a change of name and to step up its activities. Ian Bell, chief executive officer of PICTCO, and Wayne Parkes, chair of the Police Technology Programme and director of the National Enabling Programme, outlined the plans at the Police Digital Summit yesterday. They related it to the aims of the National Policing Digital Strategy, published in January of last year, pointing to the digital ambitions for the sector over the next five to 10 years. A plan to change the name of PICTCO – which provides technical advice and delivers services to UK police forces – to the Police Digital Service is still being formalised, but Bell and Parkes set out a number of its priorities.
