He's had a collection of instruments for the past 60 years. When he arrived at the instrument drive, the district anticipated just a few instruments being donated. When DeNiro arrived, D60 saw 100 of his instruments as unexpected. "There was a physician in town that helped me donate by giving me money to buy instruments. Sometimes, families turned their instruments back in after the students could no longer use them," he said. DeNiro saw how not all of his students had instruments and wanted to make sure he could teach all students and keep them in his music classes. He felt the importance of helping out the arts programs at the district.
