Pushing for Progress As the newly elected leader of Blair County’s NAACP chapter, political science major Andrae Holsey has no plans to slow down his fight for social justice. By: Marissa Carney As a child, Andrae Holsey listened to his father tell stories of growing up in the 1950s and walking eight miles every day to attend a segregated school. He heard him talk about his involvement in the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. Holsey watched with his own eyes as the KKK roamed through the town in Virginia, where he and his family lived for a time.
