Des Moines Register RAGBRAI Director Dieter Drake says he has growing confidence that the 2021 edition of RAGBRAI will happen as a full-scale ride — albeit with some COVID-19-related precautions. The 48th Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa is scheduled for July 25-31. Its 426-mile route will take riders from Le Mars to Sac City, Fort Dodge,Iowa Falls, Waterloo, Anamosa and DeWitt, ending in Clinton. Last year the ride was canceled for the first time in its history because of the pandemic. At the end of January, Drake and other RAGBRAI organizers announced that the ride would be back for 2021, but they acknowledged there were still many questions to answer about its scale and format.
