Redding news roundup (January 2021): Fire extinguished at Denny's on East Cypress

A fire burned part of the Denny's restaurant on East Cypress Avenue in Redding early Friday morning, Jan. 29, 2021. The fire's cause was under investigation.
Redding firefighters extinguished a fire early Friday morning at the Denny's restaurant at 542 E. Cypress Ave.
The fire department responded at 4:41 a.m. and saw a fire burning outside the building. Flames reached the restaurant's interior but there was only a "minimal spread," fire officials said.
Major damage was reported to part of the building's exterior and minor damage to the interior. The fire caused an estimated $25,000 in damage to the building and $500 in damage to contents.
