After being closed last summer due to the coronavirus pandemic, Redondo Beachâs popular Seaside Lagoon is set to open June 15, the same day California is expected to reopen. âIt would be a shame to not have that open,â said Mayor Bill Brand at a Redondo Beach City Council meeting this week, where the panel voted to open the park. âWe can always close it if thereâs another surge or if the county doesnât allows us to open.â The council voted to have the Seaside Lagoon, one of the South Bayâs most family-friendly swimming areas, open from June 15 to Labor Day. But COVID-19 health restrictions could but a damper on those plans, Brand said.
