Seaside Lagoonâs shortened season will set the stage for the BeachLife music festival in Redondo Beach. The City Council voted this week to operate the family swim area, which will reopen June 15 after being shuttered last summer because of the coronavirus pandemic, until Aug. 22 â shaving about two weeks off the end of the swim season to allow BeachLife organizers enough time to set up for the music festival. The move, though, could also have financial consequences for Redondo Beach. The BeachLife Festival is scheduled for Sept. 10 to 12 at the lagoon. The festival debuted in 2019 but couldnât have an encore last year because of bans on gathering. ....
After being closed last summer due to the coronavirus pandemic, Redondo Beachâs popular Seaside Lagoon is set to open June 15, the same day California is expected to reopen. âIt would be a shame to not have that open,â said Mayor Bill Brand at a Redondo Beach City Council meeting this week, where the panel voted to open the park. âWe can always close it if thereâs another surge or if the county doesnât allows us to open.â The council voted to have the Seaside Lagoon, one of the South Bayâs most family-friendly swimming areas, open from June 15 to Labor Day.
