Scientists Plan Major Research Program to Understand Earths

An apartment building in Chile after a magnitude 8.8 earthquake in 2010. Scientists at The University of Texas at Austin have joined a multinational effort to better understand tectonic hotspots (called subduction zones) that caused this and similarly powerful earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions around the world.
