Sharpened Iron Studios hosts ribbon cutting ceremony Members of the Amarillo Arts community gathered at the Amarillo College’s downtown campus Friday evening to celebrate the ribbon cutting and unveiling of the first of five soundstages that Sharpened Iron Studios will have in downtown Amarillo. This comes just months after the college’s Board of Regents approved the establishment of the Amarillo College School of Cinematic Arts, in conjunction with the faith-based film studio, as part of the college’s Innovation Outpost, located at the downtown campus at 1314 S. Polk St. This initial 3,000-square-foot soundstage unveiled during Friday’s ceremony will be dedicated mostly for student use once classes at the college’s film school begin in the fall. The studio consists of a large infinity wall, a curved surface which goes floor to ceiling that serves as a kind of green screen, giving the ability for actors and objects to be placed in front of it, while anything can be added onto the wall in post-production.
