Article content We were all watching this week as the deadline approached for Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to make good on her threat to shut down Enbridge’s Line 5 pipeline. We got an unintentional sneak preview of what would happen to Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada if that were to occur when the Colonial Pipeline was sabotaged in a cyber attack. It didn’t take long for states to declare a state of emergency and begin rationing. Even with the restoration of service, it will take days for gas stations to be restocked. That’s how quickly pipeline shutdowns are felt.
