Snow emergencies declared after storm dumps snow: Roads, closures, shelters

Sycamore Community School buses are idle at the transportation department. Schools are closed Tuesday due to the snowstorm.
Greater Cincinnati woke up to more snow than expected.
Forecasters initially predicted up to 3 inches of snow starting Monday night into Tuesday morning, prompting local municipalities to declare snow emergencies. Then we woke up to 5 inches and more in some locations, the highest accumulations of the winter so far. There are reports of 7-10" in some locations.
"If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency," the National Weather Service's weather advisory states.
