For decades, Brian Bowman has brought the city's history to life as a re-enactor in St. Augustine's historic downtown, and next week, he'll receive one of the city's top honors. The City Commission will give Bowman the de Aviles Award at 4 p.m. on Feb. 22 at The Alcazar Room at City Hall. Bowman, 70, who lives in St. Augustine with his wife, Louise, is assistant facilities manager at Ponce de Leon’s Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park, according to the city. He also helps create historically accurate representations of Native American dwellings and other features of the park. Created in 1988, the de Aviles Award can be given once per year.
