At the end of June, Elections Calgary announced it would remove the “vote anywhere” advance polling stations that allowed Calgarians to cast a ballot at any station regardless of their residence.

Marley Gillies, chair of the Calgary Students Alliance (CSA), said the decision will remove the stations from post-secondary institutions across Calgary, severely limiting the student vote.
“Not having the vote anywhere stations is a huge accessibility issue for students,” she said. “It’s kind of a daunting experience to go and vote, especially in a complex election like the one that we’re seeing coming up in the fall. . . . And students already have a pretty low voter turnout.”
