The Florida House passed its bill, HB 969, on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, moving HB 969 into the Florida Senate for consideration. In response, the Florida Senate passed a strike-all amendment that shredded HB 969 in its entirety, and replaced it with a modified version of the Senate’s bill, SB 1734. Florida Senator Jennifer Bradley, a Republican who represents District 5 in Northern Florida, filed the Senate’s amendment Wednesday morning. The ball is now back in the House’s court for final negotiations before the legislative session ends on Friday.
