Reading them can invoke a range of emotions. The famous lawyer Clarence Darrow said “I never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure”. For others, reading obituaries is to seek reassurance. American comedian Carl Reiner once said: “Every morning, I would actually look at the obituaries before I had breakfast. And as I joke, I said if I was not in it, I would have the breakfast”.
