sh shia militias are answering the call of hussein all of which exacerbates the sectarian problem. the problem isn't that soldiers haven't been trained to fight. the problem is there's a little issue at the heart of it which is do the sunnis of iraq feel they should fight for this government or against it. >> what's going on then from your perspective from the american standpoint? you have ash carter coming out with the strongest statement yet coming from the administration being critical of iraqis ability or their will to fight. just yesterday you have the vice president speaking to the prime minister in a phone call complimenting and being very supportive of iraqi forces. we know these messages and these statements coming from the top american officials are not only managed but very coordinated. it seems like a mixed message. what's the goal of these messages?
