new obama care enrollment numbers that were released just a few moments ago. they show while the numbers improved dramatically in december the administration is nowhere near hitting the benchmarks it hit before enrollment began. more than 2 million have signed up for health insurance through the federal and state exchanges. of that 2 million, only 24% are between the ages of 18 and 34. that's very significant. and a far cry from the administration's goal of 40% enrollment among young adults. while the white house is touting a total of 6 million people have enrolled in the marketplace and medicaid combined, that is a bit misleading when you look at the big picture. many of the medicate enrollees were people just renewing their plans. joining me with a closer look is cnn senior white house correspondent brianna keilar. what do you make of this release? >> these may be some of the most important numbers we've gotten sob far because they tell us who these people are.
