come into the restaurant, they would say hi, tell us what's going on in the neighborhood. that habit happened in a long time. there's -- hasn't happened in a long time. there's not as many cruisers out on the street. we used to see cars cruising the neighborhood. there's not as many out there anymore. you hardly see them. it's -- when are we going to get behind it? i think it's the crime, and when the mixed messages are gone, all right, and people want to go ouu know, new yorkers are tough and they're smart. and if they're sick, they stay home. if they're afraid, they stay home. [laughter] i mean, i wouldn't go out with the flu if i had flu-like symptom. i mean, it's just the bottom line. they've got to start putting faith back into the new york city population. eric: we've been through worse before here in new york city, and we have a new mayor who's a former police officer himself. who certainly appears to have gotten the message and understands it.
