Police have increased their presence on twin peaks. Theyre hoping that one of the many security cameras here captured yesterday mornings shooting might provide evidence. The Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a man who was hit and killed as he walked along highway 101 in South San Francisco this morning. Officers found the mans body on the shoulder of the freeway near oyster point after receiving a 911 call from a driver who reported hitting something just after 3 00 a. M. The driver actually returned to the scene to try to determine what he hit. Couldnt find naelg. Officers closed all southbound lanes until 5 30 this morning. Chp said drugs and alcohol were not a factor. A crash left two people injured in fremont. Southbound lanes were shut down in front of the Fremont Hub Shopping Center for a few hours. Two people were taken to the hospital. No word yet on how that accident happened. Two men broke into a familys home this morning pointing guns at a couple and their child. This happened just before 9 00 on oak grove road. Now with the latest on the investigation. Melanie . Reporter larry and ama, the two suspects got away, but police say a neighbor saw them running down the street and there is Surveillance Video. This Home Invasion robbery happened just before 9 00 this morning on the 2800 block of oak grove road as the couples young child, about 5 or maybe 6 years old, was playing outside, according to police. They were armed with handguns and demanding cash. Apparently they entered through an unlocked side door of the home. The suspects initially got away, running with that undisclosed amount of cash. And then police say they possibly got into a tan or gold minivan on cedro lane. Its certainly a safe city. A crime like this is very rare. Violent crime especially, Home Invasion robbery is something we dont see very often. Probably not more than once a year. Reporter so why this family and why now . Walnut creek police say they are investigating whether or not this family may have been targeted. One neighbor tells me that he turned over Surveillance Video to police that shows these suspects. He believes across the street casing this home. A wildfire burning in Mariposa County about 20 miles away from Yosemite National park is forcing people out of their homes. The Detwiler Fire started yesterday. Its already burned 7,000 acres. You can see smoke filling the sky there. Cal fire said that fire has destroyed one building and damaged another. Firefighters are making progress on the Whittier Fire near santa barbara. They have lifted evacuation orders for some People Living near lake ka chuma. The fire destroyed at least 16 homes and 30 structures. It spans over 13,000 acres. Governor brown is making Recovery Funding available to fire victims. Cal fire is working to contain 12 active fires throughout the state. This shows the fires every all spread out. They find thousands on the street every day creating a Serious Public Health risk for everyone. In the Civic Center Neighborhood in San Francisco we found syringes along the sidewalk, around trees, one even sitting in a crosswalk. Neil moore moved to the city from bakersfield, right now hes homeless. Today he was surprised to find a used needle underneath his leg. When i stood up, the newspaper blew away and there was an opencapped syringe underneath it. Reporter the Public Works Department said in march alone workers collected more than 10,000 needles compared to close to 3,000 during the same month in 2016.
