Well, it was a shocker for many students of heel college as they found out all campuses are closing and ten of those campuses are in california. Lyanne melendez is in San Francisco outside one of those schools. Let me just start out by saying that a while back state attorney general camkamilcamilla harris is reaching out to some of these students letting them know they may not have to pay back those student loans. Employers of heel college left campus with some of the things they could carry. Students were left disappointed and wondering where to go from here. It left me to think what should i do now . What are you going to do now . I was thinking of going in there and talking to them and see whats going on. Sandra yip only needed to complete one course to earn a twoyear associate degree. I was almost done. It was a surprise for me. I spent about two weeks here. Charlene lujan was celebrating with her daughter yesterday who turned 25 when she got an email about the closure of heel college in milpitas. I came straight home. I said brittany, dont worry. Mama will handle this. Her daughter had been enrolled for two months and had taken out a 30,000 loan to pay for the twoyear business program. Lujan knew that the parent company, Corinthian Colleges was trying to sell all 28 schools. They were fined by the department of education for providing false information on its job placement program. In the end no one was willing to buy the colleges. Heres what they said. Unfortunately, the current Regulatory Environment would not allow us to complete a transaction with several interested parties that would have allowed for a seamless transition for our students. Do you use your hand cell your cell phone when youre driving . A lot of people do and this month the california Highway Patrol really has been cracking down on offenders. 7 on your sides Michael Finney is here with that story. How many times have you reported on tragedies . Many many times. Youve seen accidents and deaths caused by cell phones and thats why the chp is cracking down. The california Highway Patrol has set aside april to target distracted drivers. Those who appear to be texting or talking on cell phones. Im riding along with officer Sean Wilkinson to see what it looks like from a chp cruiser and what it looks like is frightening. There are plenty of drivers who appear to be using their handheld devices. A lot of people see their commute as empty time when they could be getting other work done. The problem is multitasking in and of itself. As soon as you add any behavior on top of your driving, you will increase the chances of you getting into a collision. Most of those being pulled over by officer willkenfeld. He wasnt interested in giving me his name. I do have my earpiece, too but i forgot to put it on today. Right. Its not like i dont have it. I have it and here in the bay area n just two days april 1st and april 15th the chp wrote 358 tickets for cell phone use. 124 tickets for texting and another 76 drivers were let off with a warning for a total of 5 58 violations spotted in just two days. Get one of these and it will cost you. A first offense carries a fine of 76. A second 190 and that does not include your court costs and of course that can double those. That cost is nothing compared to the tragedy. Great story, michael. Thank you. Lets talk about the Weather Forecast and boy isnt it nice outside today .
