Happening right now, big changes for conjested bay area freeway. This as we take a live look right now at the early commute in dublin where the new 580 express lanes just opened moments ago. Stephanie chuang is live with the lane action. Hey, steph. Hey, laura and steph. The isis good news for the commuters on 580 although not necessarily the morning commute because that is going westbound the other direction. That express lane opens on monday at 5 00 in the morning. But the two eastbound express lanes are open on dublin and i havent seen anyone use it. This should help drivers in the later commute in the evening commute. Now, the cost of the express lanes will depend on Traffic Congestion and how far you drive in the lanes ranging from 1 to 9. You will need to have fastrak but free for car pools, buss and vans. You need to have one of the flex toll transponders which allow you to adjust. Now this runs 14 miles from the corridor in livermore. Alameda county Commission Officials say its similar to what already exists around 680 and the one here for 580 offer continuous action, thats the one difference. The express lanes are open monday through friday from 5 00 in the morning until 8 00 at night and a period of some delays as drivers get used to the new lanes and weve seen that in the past, including around the sunol grade. Now, there is a bay area wide sort of vision for this new kind of express lane. Well have more on that coming up in the next half hour. For now live in dublin, Stephanie Chuang. Division is becoming a reality now. Lets turn to mike and see if the new lanes will have an impact on your commute. What do you think . I think the morning probably not so well impacted, especially on a friday morning. Starting early afternoon the get away traffic for the sierra will likely benefit, if folks do have the right transponder and if they choose to take advantage of it. Some folks are tentative. You can jump into that lane at any point. Because other and that is the big change here. Westbound on monday that commute will be a difference. Well see how that plays out, as well. Meanwhile the trivalley shows a smooth flow as well the rest of the bay. 680 at olympic. A little slowing as chp arrives on scene for that crash and a quick look at the peninsula bridge. Thanks a lot. No more teetering on a cliff. The demolition of a Apartment Building in pacifica is nearly done. Thats what is left of a 12unit apartment complex and red tagged in 2012 and huge waves undercut the cliff after pressure from the City Property owners have acted and they had the building demolished. Last month a nearby building was yellow tagged for the same issue that doomed this property. 40 people were forced to move out. So, we saw friday light on the road. Yes.
