In developing news tonight, panic spread through our Nations Capital an officer is in the hospital and one woman is dead after she led police on a dramatic car chase. Authorities still on the scene outside the u. S. Capital building right now where police opened fire on the driver earlier this afternoon. Eyewitness video shows just how out of control the driver was. Police surrounding the car had to jump out of the way as she backed up and then sped off. Even though the driver involved in the police chase has insurance and so does she, she doesnt have collision insurance. So getting her truck fixed isnt going to be so easy. I dont give a darn if i have collision insurance. It wasnt my vehicle that caused the collision. My truck was on the side of the road. Reporter like many car owners with older vehicles, barbara doesnt have the optional coverage intended to repair damage to the car if its in an accident. Its a tricky situation. Reporter an Insurance Industry<\/a> spokesman says, even when theres no question that the other driver is to blame, car owners without collision coverage often have to do much of the work themselves to get their losses covered. He says while your Insurance Company<\/a> should provide information about the at fault driver and their insurer, it wont go to bat for you. They cant help to you that extent. They can get you the information and then its up to you to go ahead and move forward with that. Reporter and that usually means, filing a claim with the other drivers Insurance Company<\/a> yourself and if they are unresponsive, taking the at fault driver to small claims court. Im getting the runaround on this. Reporter as for melissa, she is prepared to fight. But she doesnt feel she should have to. It just has our whole life upsidedown right now. Reporter now, we contacted the other drivers Insurance Company<\/a> on melissas behalf and its opened a claim. Just yesterday, it went to her home to inspect the damage.
