Out. Kpix 5s emily turner is at the scene. Reporter this is a lot more excitement than they anticipated for the day and not much happens in the building. They are a customs place. Its mostly paperwork that happens here. But paperwork is exactly what caused all of this today. What started as a call for paramedics ended as a hazmat response once emergency medical workers discovered why the sick woman called. She had just recently opened a package that she noticed that it what appeared to be some white powder in the package so she was a bit alarmed with that. Reporter she was also feeling nauseous, dizzy and irritated eyes. She was taken to the hospital and two others are being evaluated. Several people were rinsed down in a portable Decontamination Center set up in the industries street as a precaution in the street as a precaution. Everyone else was evacuated while hazmat spent the afternoon trying to track down the envelope in question so they can see whats in it and who it is from. Thats more difficult than expected. The hazmat team left about 4 00 this afternoon. I did ask them what the status is of the woman who reportedly saw the white powder and was taken to the hospital. She is recovering well and does seem to be better than she was this afternoon. Reporting live in alameda, emily turner, kpix 5. A bold burglary plan ended in four arrests. The thieves targeted a milpitas gun store that just happened to be right next to it the Police Station. At about 2 a. M. , an officer heard an alarm going off at target masters. He saw a suspect climb off the roof and jump into a getaway car. Those two suspects were then arrested. A third wound up trapped inside the store. Basically, he stood at the door looking out at us just couldnt give himself up at that point. The officers were left shaking their heads wondering if they just did not notice the Police Station that was right next door. There will be prison time for a former state senator caught up in a bay area corruption scandal. Today, some tough justice for leland yee. Now, this all started years ago with leland yees involvement with Raymond Shrimp Boy Chow and the chinatown tong. If you think the story is over with this sentencing, think again. Any comment . The sentencing of former state senator leland yee to five years in prison and a 20,000 fine wraps up a chattahoocheeer in one of the biggest corruption scandals to hit San Francisco in years. Senator, anything would you like to say . He pleaded guilty to taking 40,000 in Campaign Contributions in reports for votes on bills and other political favorites. He pleaded guilty to trying to smuggle guns in from the philippines. He is remorseful and hes tired of the humiliating of his family and he is tired of what i would call a circus. And, um, he wants to get on with his life. Reporter the story, however, far from over. Now former School Board President Keith Jackson takes center stage. Jackson was sentenced to nine years in the same Corruption Case as yee but now jackson and two of San Francisco mayor ed lees supporters are facing state bribery charges. The District Attorney wont say what led to the charges but the three were caught on an fbi wiretap allegedly conspiring to lawner some 20,000 in fbi undercover money into lees 2011 mayoral campaign. The good old boys pay to play system that has worked in San Francisco so well for so long has to end. Reporter mayor lee has denied any wrongdoing. And he hasnt been contacted by the fbi. Like a comic book. Reporter that might open up once the jackson Corruption Case goes forward. Theres bones left in the yard here by this case. [ laughter ] reporter and theres a move in state court now to open up that protective order and allow the Defense Attorneys in the upcoming trial and possibly the public to get a lot more information about what was going on and what the fbi found out. A stickup at a palo alto movie theater. Police worry the pair could strike again. It happened last night as employees at the ceniarts theater closed up. Two teens walked in and pointed guns at two employees stole phones and demanded access to the safe. They saw there wasnt much money inside and they fled. The hope is to attract students with an eye for solving global crises. Spring soccer is just around the corner. And new rules are afoot for children. You may remember in november, the u. S. Soccer federation issued some guidelines about using your head. They recommended no more headers for kids under 10, know the in games or in practice. Associations across america are widely following that recommendation. But where theres some confusion is whats going to happen with kids who are 11 to 13 years old. Reporter the soccer dad and president of the board of directors for sf youth soccer says the federation only suggested limiting headers for that age group. Today one of two major youth Soccer Associations in the bay area the cal north Soccer Association announced its new rules, kids ages 12 and under will not be allowed to head the ball in games. But kids 11 to 13 can use their head in a limited way doing headers at play. They will be allowed only 15 to 20 headers per player per week. But what about the other major local youth Soccer Association . The other one u. S. Club soccer we are waiting on the announcement the preliminary conversations were that they were going to go with heading in games but not in practice. Reporter you heard that right. Its the opposite of the other rule. Headers allowed during games but not at all in practices. And so were sitting on waiting clarification, is it going to be legal in games or illegal in games and good in practice or no good in practice . Reporter were back live here. So its a little convoluted. Two major associations. Two make matters more confusing they have similar names. Norcal, they are the ones who are not allowing any headers whatsoever 12 and under. Police are now investigating whether that case is related to a woman missing from brisbane. Shelley tichenor disappeared earlier this month. Fremont police searched her home today. Fremont police are also the lead agency investigating the torso that was found near the dumbarton bridge. Investigators say the victims arms and legs had been severed. At this point they cannot confirm the body is that of the missing woman. In a related development, tichenors husband apparently jumped from the bay bridge last night we are told. Paul tichenor was described as a person of interest in his wifes disappearance. A female eagle flew off from a museum this afternoon. Kpix 5s devin fehely says this bird is something of an escape artist. Devin. Reporter theres a tremendous amounts of concern for sequoia for the same reason she cant survive in the wild. She was injured when young by hunters and while she can fly, she cant hunt. If they cant find her she may eventually starve to death on her own. Concern like a mother would be for a child that hasnt come home. Reporter it is not however the first time that captive bald eagle sequoia has flown the coop. She was loose for three days. Shes always come back but there are times of terror like this where she is out, i dont know where she is, and i want answers. Reporter johnakin the director of the Palo Alto Junior Museum and zoo says sequoia was taking a regularly scheduled Flight Training exercise monday when she got away from her handler. She took off to chase something and that got her distracted and she began to wander. Reporter she is outfitted with a radio transmitter that allows zoo keepers to track her. She has lived in captivity for 25 years after a gunshot wound paralyzed her tail making it impossible for her to hunt and live in the wild. She wears a radio transmitter. We a receiver and we have to follow her until she is ready to come down. Reporter zookeepers say that in the wild eating for eagles is feast or famine. They will eat and then go for days without eating. Its been about three days so this is the time for her to head home to eat. Ever wish you would do more than just like a Facebook Post . Now you can. Giants got in another full squad workout today at spring training in arizona but all the talk is about making another run at the world series and championship. Its an even year. About 15 degrees warmer and we are going to stay mild even when we use the phrase cooler over the next couple of days, its a relative term. Well be above average every day for the next seven including today where many of you hit the 70s and were cooling off relatively speaking down to the 60s currently. And look at cloud cover racing you understand that right now. That storm track is slowly but surely leaving the pacific northwest. Its heading to northern california. Its good news for you if you want rainfall. We are not going to see that much rain but it will be a pattern change starting friday. Tomorrow thursday more of the same. Sunny clouds offshore and many of you will end the day in the low to mid70s. Friday morning, you will notice not as much sunshine. And by friday evening, futurecast is painting just a few drips of rain here and there. Its not going to be a widespread rain event but the drive home or out of town on friday will involve a few scattered showers and then another run at some widely scattered showers coming up on sunday. No reason to change any of our outdoor plans but you may get two chances of a few minutes of some light rain. Unfortunately, thats it. Clear and cool tonight.
