Two bay areas people are dead after a vehicle slammed in to them. Elizabeth cook tells us its the third deadly wrongway crash in that area in the past few weeks. The victims were traveling westbound when the wrongway driver came barreling down the fast lane straight at them. There was no time for them to get out of the way. The victims have been identified at 24yearold nick sharma of hayward and 25yearold arshad of south San Francisco. Their lexus was obliterated when the other drivers ford f 150 slammed right in to them and burst in to flames. The pickup driver also died in the crash. He had not yet been identified. At this point its unclear why he was traveling down the wrong side of the interstate. The chp have a guest. A guess. Alcohol or drugs is always a suspicion. Were not going to know until the toxicology report does come back. Generally sober drivers dont drive the wrong way on the freeway. A total of 11 people have been killed. State lawmakers are now pushing for a solution. Assembly member Freddie Rodriguez has introduced a bill that would require cal trans to study wrongway crashes and how to prevent them. Im sad frustrated, angry that this is continuously going on. Its a problem thats occurring more frequently than we want to hear. People are dying senselessly on our state highways. Some other states do use roadway censors to alert Law Enforcement that a driver is going the wrong way. Those alerts also include flashing signs for other drivers. Its on its way to the senate. A family is mourning the loss of their 12yearold son after he was hit and killed by a muni train in San Francisco. It happened around 8 30 this morning near san jose and lake view avenues. Authorities say andrew wu was running to catch muni when he was hit by a light rail. Wu was pinned and dragged 40 feet and pronounced dead at the scene. This is a tragic situation. We want to do everything we can to make sure were working with the police and Fire Department to find out what happens here. The parents were grieving on the scene shortly after. Investigators are reviewing footage from a dozen cameras on the muni light rail. An accused sexual predator who tried to assault a 13yearold girl faced a judge today. Muhammad kaliki tried to hide from the cameras. Hes been charged with four felony counts in those attacks. In one case prosecutors say he followed a 13yearold girl in to her home and tried to attack her. Hes accused of attacking another woman in april. These are strangers. They announced the Theater Owner will not face charges. Spokesman tells me the cause of death right now is undetermined that drugs may have been involved and that the das office is waiting for the toxicology report prior to making any charging decisions. Rosenblum will likely be released from jail while the decision is being mailed. Kelsey was 31 years old lived in oakland. Its not clear what her relationship was with rosenblum. A bill to require vaccinations for nearly all California School kids has been amended to grandfather in any children whose parents have claimed personal belief exemptions in the past. The authors also removed a requirement for schools to notify parents about immunization rates. The bill could go to a full senate vote as early as this week. The epa is looking to make working conditions in nail salons a lot safer. Nail polish and other chemicals found in those salons contain chemicals that could cause a number of health problems. The chief administrator is visiting some salons tomorrow to talk about improving working condition. Her visit comes after a New York Times article sparked an outcry over poor working conditions found at many nail salons. The Oakland Unified School district is partnering with intel to create a job pipeline to Silicon Valley. San jose is now the first city to make the cuts mandatory. In a couple weeks nearly everybody in the south bay will have to face mandatory water cuts or else pay very stiff fines. Businesses and homeowners will be given a month by month allocation. That allocation is based on the average of all users in 2013. Youll have to cut your usage by 30 of that 2013 average or else pay a fine for going over the amount. No details on the penalty yet. This affects the san Jose Water Companys 1 million customers and 80 of san jose, los gatose, saratoga monte sereno, and campbell.
