New this morning, a community that saw significant damage during the valley fire is getting something critical from lake county. Fire victims from Anderson Springs are receiving a new sewer system. Cant live without it. State and local officials announced the 7. 5 million project at a town meeting last night. The valley fire burned 76,000 acres over 1200 homes including 120 in Anderson Springs. And the problem is that residents have been in a real fix because their homes are too close to a stream to accommodate legal septic systems firefighters are battling a blaze thats destroyed dozens of homes in central california. Fire started yesterday afternoon about 40 miles northeast of bakersfield then moved from hillside to hillside consuming everything in its path. As hena daniels tells us, all fire crews could do is watch reporter feel the heat out here, its hot. Reporter fastmoving flames tore through more than 80 homes around lake isabela, california, in just a few hours. The Fire Department live streamed the chaos on facebook. I have never been in a wildland fire where i have seen so many homes burn. Reporter crews on the ground frantically trying to get people out and get control of the blaze. Thats what the Alameda County District Attorney has concluded in a statement. While sergeant gantt may have violated departmental policy, no criminal conduct occurred. The d. A. s office says gantts girlfriend transcribed audio recordings for him between may 2013 and january 2014 from compact disks he gave her but that she never saw any other documents or paperwork including the Police Report or any criminal history and she never discussed the case with gantt. The d. A. s office says altogether, gantt investigated 10 criminal cases during that time period. Three are still pending. I think in these instances, the suspects were looking for a quick grab. And something quick is like a cell phone in your hand, in these cases wearing jewelry around your neck is very visible. According to police, these robberies happened at all times of the day. Often the robber attacks a woman from behind or distracts her by asking a question right before committing the crime. An arrest in one of two deadly hitandrun crashes in San Francisco involving bicyclists. Police say this driver ran a red light near 7th and howard in soma and plowed into a woman on a bike around 8 30 wednesday night. About an hour and a half earlier, at golden gate park, police say a man driving a stolen honda tried to pass another car that smashed into and killed another bicyclist. That driver is still on the loose. A tie vote in the u. S. Supreme court has effectively blocked president obama effort to keep millions of undocumented immigrants from being deported. That leaves people wondering whats next. Betty yu reports reporter they sang, prayed and rallied in the place where cesar chavez fought for farm workers more than 50 years ago. They organized after a Supreme Court deadlock. A one line order by justices divided 44 keeping the status quo effectively striking down the president s 2014 immigration actions that would grant roughly 4 million Illegal Immigrants a reprieve from deportation. The fact that the Supreme Court wasnt able to issue a decision today doesnt just set the system back even further; it takes us further from the country that we aspire to be. Reporter Santa Clara County says split decision affects more than 140,000 immigrants in the county. Many of them live in a neighborhood of our lady of guadalupe church. The winds are all over the place today. This is variable wind. We have a northerly flow in oakland and Santa Clara Valley but west in San Francisco.
