Attack that killed 49 innocent people. Salmans uncle was at the hearing and defended her outside the courthouse. She was sleeping. Had a telephone call, where is omar. She says he is not here. Let me call him and find out. She either called him or text him. He respond. She says dont you see the news and she says no and he says i love you, babe. Thats all she knows and the next thing this. Prosecutors said she lied to them. Yeah. They you know, i feel sorry for all of the people that passed away but the right person who did this crime, he needs to pay for it but not an innocent person. She had no idea. You believe she is innocent and no knowledge. I know. I know. I know she is innocent. How can she live in that home and not know something was awry . I dont know. I dont know the answer. I never been in a situation like that. I can tell he clicked and he is going to do something crazy like that. Well, todays hearing was continued in part until tomorrow so that high profile attorney Charles Swift can ask for bail. Lets bring in Michael Cardoza. The charges she is facing are very serious. Yes. They carry life in prison. She is convicted, the judge could put her away for life. This is a long investigation, six months and a grand jury heard the evidence. And in your estimation because we dont know what the prosecutors have. Because of the seriousness of the charges do you believe the prosecutors have a strong case. I was a District Attorney in three different counties and the feds we would say they have to have a video and confessions and they have to have all sorts of evidence or they are not going to try it, they would send it to the county. Do i think they have a lot of evidence . I do. They are bringing in a high profile lawyer, a guy that defended terrorists at guantanamo bay. Won a big case in the supreme court. Right. Whats the difference between having a public defender appointed to you and having someone like this that comes in pro bono. Is this a gamechanger for her. She is bringing in a high profile allegedly a good trial attorneyeneral. Because you are high profile doesnt mean you have a lot of experience or deserve that reputation. You have to look behind it and see not only did he win that one trial and what is the track record . I dont mean wins and losses. Good Defense Attorneys can lose cases because the government has the evidence most of the time. He is coming in, better than a public defender, maybe, because they have a good pool of lawyers, you have to get lucky to pool a good one but the government will send in big hitters so it will be a heavy weight fight in this trial if it gets there. I was in the courtroom this morning and youre right the prosecution table was filled with suits and the public defender assigned for this hearing did say we are going to ask that our client be released tomorrow. What are the odds of that happening . I like the optimism. If there is a bail set, it is going to be exorbitant. You have a possibility of life here being sent away for life. She is not going to get out. I would bet an awful lot you are not getting out. The government is going to give the court enough that the court sets, if it sets bail astronomical number. Michael cardoza. Back in Court Tomorrow at 9 30, federal courthouse in oakland. Michael, thank you. Now to some developing news from the white house.
