Believe this order is lawful. The white house defended the action and where the president signed another executive order. President trump signing a new executive action to reduce government regulation described as the one in and two out order. We have to knock out two regulations for every new regulation. Cutting regulations massively for Small Business and large business. The execute order signed on friday that has everyone talking. That act put a band on entrance in the United States for people from 7 majority moslem nations as well as an indefinite band for refugees from syria. The white house defending the move despite critics says it was put together too hastily. The security of American Homeland continue to be the president s top priority. His outreach to these leaders is critical in turning the payment on the failed foreign policies of the past 8 years. The immigration order spawning protests nationwide. Today the council on American Relations has filed a lawsuit on paf of 20 individuals challenging this socalled moslem band. Five judges have had the continue to weigh in on the constitutionality of the executive order. And we are batting five or five. And there can soon be more controversy brewing as the president says he will announce the Supreme Court pick tomorrow night. The choice that will undoubtedly have its fair share of detractors. As we mentioned democrats tonight are gathering on the steps of the Supreme Court calling on President Trump to rescind his travel band. House minority House Speaker nancy pelosi pushing for the dropping of the travel band. Chuck schumer says this is against what america is all about. This order is against what we believe for america, the order will make us unsafe. The order will make us inhumane and the order will make us less of america. Schumer says the bands on immigrants will make americans a target on u. S. Soil as well as overseas where the countrys armed forces are serving. People are responding to this execute band. You may have concerns that President Trump is calling for reinforcement of immigration laws. We want to ensure you that this executive order does not have any effect on how we respond to our students rights in San Francisco public schools. That voice mail goes onto say that existing laws keep students safe at school regardless of their immigration status and the district says the staff will not cooperate with any official inquiring about a child status unless there is a court order. Tech leaders are reacting strongly to President Trumps policies. One says that it is hurting net flick employees around the world and so unamerican and it will make us less safe. Apple and google and tesla posted it is the beginning of a major battle brewing between Silicon Valley and President Trump. Tom vacar joins us with more from the newsroom. Ironically they are using mr. Trumps weapon twitter. It repudiations the band on moslems and the world reasons and hard nose business reasons. 50 of the fortune 500 companies in the United States are led by an immigrant or the child of an immigrant. Startup ceos were not blessed to be born in the United States. Major concern is that mr. Trump may target other immigrants working or wanting to work in the u. S. There is a concern that not only are these 7 countries and people coming from those countries impacted but it may grow to other countries around the globe. Even people that have green cards and visas and people to reenter the United States are impacted by the band. Should be remembered that Silicon Valley represents one of the nations biggest and growing exports, high technology. It could actually lead to more u. S. Companies expanding where qualified job seekers abound and ready to take to work. Tom vacar, fox 2 news. Tom, thank you. All right. Well joining me now is Business Consultant pool tiffany, the lecturer at the business school. Talking about the impact on Silicon Valley in particular. We heard from a number of ceos of various businesses. Do you see this having a direct impact on those businesses . Yes. Especially, heather, on Silicon Valley for a couple of reasons. They have been talking about stim measures and science and engineer and math. U. S. Graduates have not been very there have not been enough of them in those areas so we have drawn on foreign sources. If you look at the issue, part of it has to do with a very complex and how do i say skewed up immigration policies. We issue 85,000hb visas a year. Of the top ten. Google, motivate are in there. Organized labor has been opposed because the major users have been indian based outsourcing software firms. They do play for less than other wages but so much of the local firms here, Silicon Valley, about a third of the big startups have been founded by foreigners from the southeast, asia. The 7 countries that trump named have not been in the aggregate big producers of hb1 visas individuals. The one country, not on the list, the major one is india of course. A very large percentage of the startups in the valley have been south asia, indian entrepreneurs. India when bangladesh backed off. India did not have a big population. It will have an effect if we cut the flow of talented individuals. The longterm plan should be to increase the number of stim measures from our own universities but foreigners, that is who we are. An immigrant country. Steve jobs, his father was a syrian immigrant and apple is as american as you can get. Lets talk about Donald Trumps executive order today on deregulation. What kind of impact that would have . His order was stated in broad terms. It is difficult to find out exactly what. I think something we have to keep in mind. Regulations tend to be a function of Companies Pushing their own agenda and getting a sponsor and getting it passed. There is some concern in Silicon Valley that perhaps regulation hurts that entrepreneurial spirit. There was a property that came out that said Small Businesses in 2017, the Small Business owner tra spends 12,000 a year dealing with regulations. That clearly is an issue for especially Small Businesses. I am surprised it is that low. One of the problems that regulation cuts with a giant company when you need a surgical tech, regulations affect everyone. Every case you have to look at. Some regulations, you i and viewers want better things. We dont want things in the atmosphere that will do us harm. On the other hand a lot of regulations are pushed to protect companies and how do we get a nice balance . Thats the issue. How do we get up both sides to come up with regulations good for all of us. That is a political issue. We should let viewers know that donald trump in this executive order saying every two regulations should be eliminated for every one. Thank you for sharing your expertise. The 49ers have made their choice for general manager, still to come, what we know about john lynch and what the hire means for the team search for a head coach. After five years of delays, the high profile sierra lamar murder case begins. Our legal expert Michael Cardoza will talk about what we learned from the first day of the trial. When heartburn hits, fight back fast with tums smoothies. It starts dissolving the instant it touches your tongue. And neutralizes stomach acid at the source. Tum tum tum tum smoothies only from tums it has been an emotional afternoon in a san jose courtroom where after four years the trial is now under way for the man accused of killing 15 yearold sierra lamar. Garcia torres is facing a possible death sentence if he is convicted of killing the morgan hill teenager that disappeared after leaking home to catch her school bus. After picking alternate jurors the prosecution delivered its Opening Statements this afternoon. And prosecutor david boyd told the gush sierra lamar is dead. This man killed her. He went on to say her body was never found but there were traces of dna in garcia torress car. Prosecutors saw sierras backpack and cell phone found with her dirty clothes that prosecutors indicate that sierra was dragged and they played the 911 call by her mother to report her daughter missing. Mark class whose daughter poly was abducted and kill talked about what sierras mother is going through. I can tell you that she is reliving everything and that it is just got to be horrendous knowing that she is attending the trial for her daughters murder and still has no idea where her daughters remains are. It is so brutal. P it is just horrible. Garcia torres has pleaded not guilty. The defense is scheduled to deliver an Opening Statement tomorrow. For more im joined by Michael Cardoza. A difficult case for prosecutors because theres nobody. Difficult, ted, as you say because there is nobody but the biggest pieces of evidence in this case to my mind are the other counts, not the charges of murder for sierra lamar, but the other kidnappings are attempted kidnappings that they have charged. So guilty of kidnapping this person and this person setting that pattern up. The other thing that they are obviously doing already in Opening Statements are creating an emotional trial that you got her family there. Playing the 911 tape. How far does that go with injuries . It can go far because some jurors are very emotionally driven. I would hope that during voir dire the selection of the jury that defense voir dired them and said you are going to hear some very emotional things like a 911 tape. And i heard today there were tears in the eyes of some jurors but you asked the perspective jurors at the time when you hear Something Like that, it doesnt mean that my client did it. Sierra is missing for sure. We dont know whether she is dead. Thats what the defense will say. So dont emotionally jump to hes guilty because of a 911 tape. Dna now is so commonplace especially on television. How would you, if you were defending this defendant go about it . Lets talk about the day to day. Dna was found, lamars dna was found in the trunk of the defendant. The defendant told the police i have never met her. Begs the question. How did her dna get in your trunk . The defendants dna was found on a piece of clothing of sierras that was found near where she was kidnapped. How did it get on there . The defendant had a weak explanation when he talked to the police. He will have to explain that away if he takes the stand and that could bring enough to get him convicted but to bring a death penalty. Jurors dont like nobody. Juries are conservative. We will have to see what happens tomorrow. We will hear from Defense Attorneys as they deliver Opening Statements. We heard from the prosecution today. It will be a long trial. It will be interesting. Absolutely. Michael cardoza. Thank you. You are welcome. Crews continuing to demolish an apartment complex in pacifica. Nearing the end. You can remember the complex as you can see from the live pictures so close to the edge, the city of pacifica deeming it unsafe and decided that they would start the demolition procedures. As you can see they are wrapped up in pacifica. The process started this morning. Made a lot of progress. You can see the thing is all gone pretty much. As crews begin to demolish that apartment there are things that go into that including the decision to tear it down. Alex savage has more. Reporter this Apartment Building had beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean is being torn down today because the ground underneath it is too unstable. The complex at esplanade avenue in pacifica is being torn apart because the bluff is in danger of collapsing. Work got under way at 8 00. The crew and demolition fired up the heavy machinery and started to rip it apart. There was a drone put up in the air to monitor the oceanside of the building and watch for any falling debris. Because this apartment sits on the edge of an unstable cliff. Demolition crews had to be careful. This calls out for the equipment to be no close are than 40 feet from the edge of the cliff. These are 80 pounds each. It could give way anytime. Everyone in this Apartment Building was forced to move. The city of pacifica yellow tagged the 20 unit complex because the bluff beneath the building was eroding due to storm runoff and despite the recent rain in the bay area, the ground has remained relatively stable. Stable enough to move with the demolition progress. We have been lucky that the storm has not produced the flooding we have seen and produce the kind of impacts on the coastline. This is becoming a familiar site. Last year two neighboring Apartment Buildings on esplanade avenue were demolished because they sit on the same unstable cliff side. The owner of this cliff has filed for bankruptcy meaning the city is footing the bill for this demolition spending 3000 in taxpayer money but city officials will seek reimbursement from the owner and the state and possibly the federal government. The demolition of this building wraps up today but the debris removal could take several days. Alex savage, fox 2 news. All right. You can see alecs hair blowing in the wind there rosemary. Usually pretty windy in pacifica but a nice day. Your right. A little bit of a breeze but not bad. Today may be one of the warmest. Looking at partly cloudy skies. You can see high clouds sweeping across the bay area. This has been the case over the last few days. We had beautiful sunrises, sunsets because of it and we are going to continue with this pattern for at least one more day before we transition back to some wet weather. Right now 62 degrees. Santa rosa. 59 in france and upper 50s in oakland. Livermore 58 and san jose 63 at this time. Upper 60s and low 70s for some of the warmer locations. Earlier today like santa cruz and portions of the south bay. Tuesday is going to be just as nice. Perhaps just slightly cooler for tuesday afternoon. We begin to cloud up as early as wednesday morning and wednesday night we do expect the rain to move in and we are going to be wet for at least a couple of days, it looks like thursday and most of friday looks wet as well. For tomorrow, fair skies. 35 in saningta rosa. 42 in oakland. 46 for San Francisco, the numbers similar to how we woke up this morning. We will be dry in the afternoon under mostly cloudy skies. 62 expected for oakland. 62 San Francisco. 65 in the south bay of san jose and 60 for santa rosa. Shaving off a few degrees and wet weather for wednesday. I will have a look at the extended forecast coming up. Thanks, rosemary. Google is honoring an oakland man that stood up for his beliefs. Still to come, we will look back at the legacy of this man to see why it is relevant today. President trumps order on immigration. There are many people that support the travel band. A bay area woman joins us to tell us why she supports the president. Executive orders by the president has met with resistance and anger. Protests have broken out at every major airport in the United States after fridays travel band. Lawmakers and ceos and concerned citizens are voicing oxes on social media and protests. There is another side of this. We have been joined by corein. People have been surprised. You told me that you are not surprised by all of the things that he has put in place. Why . I am not surprised. I have been following his campaign for the past year and everything
