Come out to sfo international and put your bodies and voice on the line not to just protest but to stop this. Thats why im here. I want to stop this muslim ban. We had a lot of questions. People wondering what does the courts ruling mean. There has been no guidance from the government until just a few minutes ago. Weve seen a legal challenge from the state of hawaii. What are they challenging. Reporter i got a motion. What they are challenging is the position that the state department has chosen for close family developings ships. And relationships. What the state of hawaii is pointing to is why are step sisters included but why not grandparents or uncles. The state of hawaii has filed the case with the federal judge who officially held the case in honolulu to say that this new set of regulations needs to be broadened and certainly needs to be clarified. Reporter what affect could this have, could they stop the travel ban once again. Reporter it wouldnt stop t but potentially it would broaden the categories of people who could come in under this idea of close family relationships. Take us back to monday, the u. S. Supreme court, it weighed in, it is going to hear the full days in october, but on monday they had several options. They could have left the stay in place. It kind of came in the middle. We were talking. Explain what they did to reach the decision to come to where we are. Sure. As you were staying. They had two extremes which were possibilities. One would be to put the executive order back into effect, which is what the president wanted, or to leave the stays which the ninth circuit and the 4th issue essentially had issued, which is what the plaintiffs want. Instead they went to the middle. I think they went to the middle because they were trying to get a compromise amongst the justices. You need five voetsz in this situation. I think five votes in this situation. I think thurp struggling for a compromise. They were deciding until what the case could be heard in october. Whapt they came up is close family relationships or bona fide relationships with an nt like a university. What this case dk dk number 1, im not sure that the sgluj hawaii is actually going to hear the case. If it were me, i of would have gone to washington, i would have gone to the Supreme Court and sought clarification there. This may be a way to get there. Make sure the federal judge in hawaii says its not for me sh its for the justices in washington. The part i think is more vulnerable is the ice you dont with respect to ref gees on pt question of whether or not ref gees could have a bona fide relationship with an ente refugees could have a bona fide relationship with an entity. 40 have no family relationships and still want to come the United States. If they cant tie into these groups, they are going to be banned for the time being. I think we will see some more challenges. Thanks for making it a little bit more clear for us tonight. Always doing my best. Thank you. In the past hour, weve learned that a federal judge has blocked a New California law banning the possession of gun magazines that hold more than ten bullets.
