Police are investigating the suspicious death of a 7month old baby. Ktvus alex savidge joins us live from San FranciscoGeneral Hospital with the many questions surrounding this tragedy. Good morning, alex. Reporter good morning. Police say a woman brought her 7monthold baby here to San FranciscoGeneral Hospital early this morning. Its unclear exactly what was wrong with that child but we do understand the baby died, was pronounced dead at the hospital, just after midnight. As we watched police towing away a white car from the hospital parking, we understand that car is related to the case. Its unclear who the car belongs to. The baby arrived here at the hospital just about 12 30 or so this morning. The medical examiner was called out not long after that and investigators determined the death of this child was suspicious. Police are only saying its a 7 monthold baby. We dont know if it was a bay or a girl. The cause of death remains unclear. The detectives were here at the emergency room this morning. At the same time, police secured a louse on monterey boulevard just off 280 in San Francisco. Earlier this morning, crime scene tape was put up across the front entrance at that location and police say that scene is connected to the death of this baby. Right now, homicide investigators are interviewing the babys mother. They are also talking to other family members and trying to get a sense of what was going on last night early this morning, as this child was brought here to the hospital and they are trying to understand how this 7monthold baby wound up dead. No progress appears to have been made. These are some Republican Leaders who are speaking. Lets listen in. That keep critical portions of the federal government open, nearly half of the federal government now, we have passed the bills in the house to open up the federal government and yet the senate refuses to act. Thats not leadership. Leadership is not leadership is when you say you are not gonna negotiate, thats not leadership or you say that they are just holding the United States hostage, thats not leadership. Leadership is certainly not when you are not willing to address the big issues, the major issues that face the country. Were lengthed to govern and elected to govern and make the decisions and they want to take the easy way out. Thats not not acceptable to us or the american people. You are listening live. Meanwhile, whats happening today, democrats controlling the senate plan to move quickly toward a vote to allow the government to borrow more money. The measure is expected to provide enough borrowing room to last beyond next years election. We are expected to hit the debt ceiling on october 17th last week. Its not expected to include new spending cuts sought by the republicans. So that, of course, still remains to be scene how the government would deal with that pending deadline. Well, new this morning, firefighters in San Francisco investigating how a car on fire ended up parked on a hill leading to twin peaks. It was found about 4 30 on marview way and fairview court. It was burning when the firefighters got there. The driver of the car, still has not been found. Also new this morning, firefighters in the Santa Cruz Mountains are battling a grass fire in felton. It started at 3 45 this morning on lomako road. Two acres of grass have burned. And firefighters in Santa Cruz County are in aptos investigating a fire that burned two homes on redwood drive. No word of injuries but the neighborhood was briefly evacuated. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Well, the clock is ticking toward the thursday night deadline in the b. A. R. T. Labor dispute. Theres a major new development. Theres new hope for a possible settlement when the talks resume at 9 30 this morning. Todays contract talks come after the most encouraging sign yet. Last night, Union Leaders announced they would not be issuing a 72hour strike notice. Theyve always on that in the past. So a lot of folks are thinking that perhaps the two sides might be closer to ironing out a deal. Now, last night in oakland, the negotiators left the building very quietly and that is because both sides are not saying much to the media because of this gag order issued by the mediator. Experts say that silence about closed door talks is usually an indication that a deal is closer. Although, a gag order earlier this summer didnt make much of a difference at the bargaining table. The coolingoff period ends at 11 59 wednesday night. We spoke to one passenger who said the last strike strike hurt his familys livelihood. They shouldnt go on strike. It work on i work on the b. A. A bill to help guns off the streets of oakland is now on governor browns desk. If he signs it, oakland could be the only city in the state with the right to make its own rules governing gun licensing and registration. The bill was introduced by rob bonta. He says the legislation is not a cure for the citys gun violence but it will help to track guns. This bill is one of a dozen proposed gun laws in the governors office. 7 11. Expect more traffic on highway 101 after a new casino opens in rohnert park. The press democrat reports 40,000 more cars a day may clog highway 101 after the new resort and casino opens in november. That could cause backups from the rohnert park expressway all the way to petaluma. Casino Officials Say the added traffic is unlikely to cause big backups because traffic is gonna be spread out over the 24 hours the casino is open. 7 11. The Democraticled Senate is introducing a bill that would increase the governments Borrowing Limit by 1 trillion, giving it another credit until next years congressional elections. Due to procedure it may take one week to house the bill, giving the house a day or two to react on it. The House Speaker says theres not enough to raise the debt ceiling. Theres never been a president in the history that did not negotiate over the debt limit. Never. Not once. As a matter of fact, president obama negotiated with me over the debt limit in 201 1. Experts say the potential for a safety lapse increases without the benefit of the extra oversight. The Government Shutdown keeping tourists away from marin county. A High School Teacher in fremont has been arrested on suspicion of inappropriately touching a student. They arrested the 66yearold Union City Man on friday after following up on a report from a parent. The unidentified teacher was cited and released. A former uc davis chemist will stand trial on explosives and weapons charges. David snyder is accused of setting off an explosion at his apartment complex in january. Its right there in the middle of downtown san jose. You can see the road sensors are very slow all the way through coming up to downtown san jose. We also happen to have ta camera to happen to have a camera to show you. Its backed up from 85 all the way up into downtown san jose. What is usually kind of a good alternate to 280 is not. I wouldnt recommend it at all. Lets go to the bay bridge toll plaza where the traffic has been moderate. This is a 20, 25minute delay.
