Rosemary, the rain, when it went away yesterday i thought ok, it might take a little while to warm up but turned out to be a nice day. It was. A powerful aftershock jolted nepal this morning as the himalayan nation struggles to cope with the aftermath of yesterdays catastrophic 7. 8 magnitude earthquake that killed more than 2,000 people. This morning 6. 7 after shocks and already traumatized residents running again. Rescue teams are working through these aftershocks clearing rubble in search of survivors but landslides are blocking many roadways hindering aid efforts. Most areas remain without power and water. Yesterdays earthquake also triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest that swept more than a dozen climbers to their deaths. A google executive was among the People Killed in the avalanche. 33yearold Dan Fredenberg had been posting pictures on his Facebook Page documenting the hike to the mounteering base camp. And the time his group spent there. His sister posted on social media he died from a major head injury. Googles director of privacy who worked closely with him wrote in a statement sdly we lost one of our own in this tragedy. He was in nepal with three other google employees hiking Mount Everest. Google officials said the other three employees are safe and that the company is working to get updated satellite images to help in the recovery effort. Google says it will also donate 1 million to the response. Two climbers from Sonoma County survived the avalanche. Scott holder, a Financial Adviser f santa rosa and john ritter, a contractor from kenwood. The men werent caught in the slide which injured at least 61 people. The two told the press democrat that avalanches were happening one after another on the mountain. A Washington State mountain climbing group says a member of its everest team was killed in the avalanche. Marissa durawong was among eight other climbers there when the avalanche began. She was the teams camp doctor. We need to still keep them in our prayers because its going to be a tough journey to come down. An athlete from raleigh, north carolina, is trying to get home after climbing Mount Everest. For almost two weeks ron wahula who has been climbing the mountain is believed to be at about 14,000 feet. He and his hiking group are now trying to make their way down the mountain. Countries around the world are preparing to send help to the affected areas in the himalayas. The u. S. Has pledged 12 million to help with the relief effort in nepal. 1 million. A u. S. Based Disaster Response team also heading there. Others to help include israel, britain and china. As part of opening day on the bay. The first is the boat parade that is going to be on the San Francisco side starting from noon to 2 00. Youll be able to watch a parade of more than 100 boats go by. You can see it from the shore from marina green and christie field all the way to pier 39. That is happening at noon, again on the San Francisco side. Were in tiberon at the Corinthian Yacht Club. At 10 30 they will have a blessing of the pleasure fleet. Similar to a boat parade. Mark thompson, tell us what were going to see here at 10 30 . At least four people are missing after a powerful storm capsized several boats off the coast of alabama Officials Say crews are continuing their search of mobile bay, more than 100 sailboats and as many as 200 people were participating in the Dauphin Island regetta when the storm moved in.
