Russian river and lake county. Be advised these are going to continue to be updated rapidly. Some areas not getting some. It looks a little ominous but not as much is this right here. That will be the source of the heavier rain. We have to wait for this to start working its way and from the west and southwest. It holds so morris so much pleasure. Wind advisory goes until 4 pm. San jose due south and these west facing areas especially Santa Cruz Mountains marin county and Russian River are in store for heavy rain. I cannot emphasize how deep this goes. Rain and went not so bad this morning. It picks up and takes us until later this afternoon and tonight. Driving is not going to be optimal. Usually when it rains we have a lot of crashes that occurred. People driving too fast for the conditions. And people running into standing water. We have had a lot over the last few weeks of storms. Bay bridge it is not raining right now. Is going to be a nice commute. With no major issues getting into San Francisco. Westbound 580 traffic is slow. If we go to the maps, this is open all the way all the lanes are open. Yesterday they were closed for pothole repair. There have been no major problems. In san jose the south bay commute is waking up. Northbound 280 you can see traffic is looking good. Lets go back to the desk. Another storm is coming to the bay area. The north they expected to get the first wave and a couple of hours. People in marin county are concerned after the storm earlier this week cause damaging mudslides. Workers dug the saturated soil and covered the area with tarps to stop the mudslides. Experts say a slight like this move slowly. And the mud starts moving it is hard to stop. Theyve been busy working on the oversaturated hills across marin county. Morel the marin county is oversaturated. Were going to keep getting calls. This is going to keep going. The retaining Wall Companies are going to be on overload. Reporter with the rain people are stocking up on sandbags. Red Hills Shopping Center as you can see the stockpile is already gone. A lot of stores are preparing for that. A few moments ago we saw a crew checking the sewage system to make sure the drainage works off. They are on top of it in marin county. Hopefully we can talk to some of these businesses opening today. A lot of them are covering their storefronts storefronts. They are used to it. They are ahead of the game. If you live on a hillside there are signs your home is in danger of slipping. That includes new cracks in the ground. Boreholes or bare spots. Also trees that are tilting. If you see streams that look muddier than usual that might be a warning. Unusual rumbling sounds indicate that earth is moving our pipes are being pulled across. There are things you can do to protect your family and home from landslide damage. They suggest dont sleep in lower floor bedrooms on the side of the house that faces the hazardous flow. Once again there is a Flash Flood Watch in effect for the napa river. Along with the flooding, the other concern is the threat of mudslides. There is still a major closure in place northwest of napa proper because of this huge slide that happened on tuesday. It is blocking redwood world wrote. People living in that area dont have power. People are having to make a 15 mile detour to get into and out of napa. That closure will remain in place until next week. Obviously there is a concern about that slide getting worse. Also other hillsides giving way. The ground is so saturated. From all the rain we had been getting. We are near downtown napa. Keeping an eye on the napa river. There is some concern a flood watch in place. For the napa river. As this nexus the growth in. That light mist and drizzle. Right now but they are expecting a couple of inches of rain potentially later today. 24 inches in some spots. They cant handle all of that rain. A wild story from los gatos. A woman who was trapped by mudslides in her home went on Facebook Live to call for help. Some of the cars are getting washed away. If someone can call caltrans or whoever and send them to our house. Jennifer ray had no cell phone service. Her landline was not working. She relied on the internet. The mudslide hit her home tuesday morning. Crews cannot get to her family. They had to wait it out. All of this water and mud came down and trees. It was just this force of nothing like i have ever seen before. 2 homes on the property were damaged. The house that belonged to her sister is now uninhabitable. 4 cars were damaged as well. Donations to a go fund me page for the family is at about 6000. A section of diablo road remains close this morning because of the trees that came down. The damage is at the apple road. Diablo road. People in the area can use the roads but other drivers will be turned around. Pg e crews have replaced several power poles and replace electrical lines.
