The president reacted to all the violence in virginia by saying the country needs to come together as americans with what he called true affection for each other. He called for a stop to all the violence. We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on many sides. Its been going on for a long time in our country, not donald trump, not barack obama. This has been going on for a long, long time and it has no place in america. Apparently not everyone agreed with that quote. Many sides were to blame for the violence. Democrats and some republicans called on him to specifically denounce white supremists. That included marco rubio who criticize the president s stand. He tweeted a white supremist web site called the daily stormer praised the president for what he said, posting the quote here, trumps comments were good. He didnt attack us. Hundreds of people marching in oakland to condemn the violence in charlottesville. People met last night in downtown Oakland Holding signs and chanting messages against hate, bigotry and violence. The rally was mostly peaceful. A small group of people walked out on to interstate 580 near the grand avenue exit and blocked traffic before marching back downtown. There was also a candlelight vigil held in San Francisco. The group bay area united against white supremists said the Trump Administration is partly to blame for yesterdays violence. 700 miles away from charlottesville in chicago people gathered because of more violence anywhere in the country. Its important for people to realize it could be happening to any of us, anyone in the street that wanted to stand up against white supremists and fascism. That is quite shocking for us. About 50 people held a candle lyle vigil and said prayers for the woman killed in charlottesville. They said it was important to come together and share feels of sadness and anger and was appropriate to hold the event outside of trump tower. A rally against White Supremacy is scheduled later today. There are lots of rallies planned throughout today as a show of solidarity for the people in charlotte.
