Of vermont as well as colorado and utah. Sand rs is also leading right now in california. The state with the most delegates. But the race is too rl to call with 45 of the vote in. Sanders has 32 to bidens 23 . The state of maine is too close to call with 91 of the vote in. Biden leads sanders, 34 to 33 . When it comes to delegates, biden is now the front runner. Thats a math and count of the total delegates so far. 420 to bernies dlsh 435, we just updated it. To Bernie Sanders 343. Warren at 37. So joe biden took to the stage in los angeles last night before polls closed and celebrated his vikt i ctorievic. Watch this. Its a good night. Tz a good night. It seems to be getting better. They dont call it super tuesday for nothing. A few days ago the press declared the campaign dead. And then came South Carolina and they had something to say about it. And when us you got to super tuesday it would be over. It may be over for the other guy. Im here to report we are very much alive. And make no mistake about it. This campaign will send donald trump packing. People are talking about a revolution. We started a movement. We increased turnout. The turnout turned out for us. There was some drama amist all the wins. At one point protesters rushing the stage, as you can see coming within feet of the former Vice President and his wife. The body man carry iing that proitser off the stage. And then moments later a second protester storming on to the stage. She was carried off by Biden Campaign aid. Super tuesday victories were thanks to his support among black voters in several states. According to nbc news exit polling, black voters were a key voting group for biden fueling his win in South Carolina and also true in virginia where 63 of africanamerican voters said they voted for the former Vice President. 62 of tennessees black voters also cast ballots for biden and in alabama, biden received 70 of the the backing of black voters in that state. Biden claimed a significant portion of the black vote in Southern States, where almost twothirds vote forward him yesterday. And Bernie Sanders spoke to supporters in vermont last night before polls closed in california expressing confidence in his ability to win the democratic nomination while going after joe bidens voting record. Were going to beat trump because this will become a contrast in ideas. One of us in this race led the opt schism to the war in iraq. Youre locking at him. Another candidate voted for the war in iraq. One of us has spent his entire life fighting against cuts in Social Security, exploiting to expand Social Security. Another candidate has been on the floor of the senate calling for cuts to Social Security, med care, medicaid and one of us led the opposition to disastrous trade agreements, which cost us millions of goodpaying jobs, and thats me. And another candidate voted for disastrous trade agreements. One of us stood up for consumers and said we will not support a disastrous bankruptcy bill. And another candidate represented the Credit Card Companies and voted for that disastrous bill. After a disappointing breakout, Michael Bloomberg is reassessing whether or not to stay in the president ial race. Senior Campaign Officials telling nbc news that bloomberg will meet with top advisers in new york this morning to make a decision after pouring more than 500 million of his own money into the campaign. The former new york city mayor failed to meet the 15 threshold required to win delegates in most super tuesday states. But according to the data, bloomberg has already invest eda 7 million ad buy primarily across states voting in the coming weeks like florida, with he was last night. He currently has no Public Events scheduled for today, as he makes his decision. After finishing in third place in her home state of massachusetts, Elizabeth Warren and her campaign are charting their next steps. According to nbc news, team warren appears to be tight lipped. Staffers seem on edge and there are signs that the campaign is feeling the pressure. And tensions are mounting among progress is as the moderate wing of the Democratic Party begins to unite. Plolitical reports angered the sanders camp as she vows to go all the way the to the convention. Tweeting, last night, imagine if the progressives consolidated last night like the moderates consolida consolidated, who would have won . Warren held a rally in detroit without once mentioning super tuesday. But prediction has been a terrible business. And the pundits have gotten it wrong over and over. So heres my advice. Cast a vote that will make you proud. Cast a vote from your heart. And vote for the person you think will make the best president of of the United States of america. Im in this race because i believe i will make the best president of the United States. Joining us now from North Carolina, david gur. Two different realities this morning if youre inside the booiden camp or the sanders camp. Tough decisions for bloomberg and warren ahead. Lets start with the results of us super tuesday and how they may have impacted some of these campaigns starting with joe bidens camp. What does this mean for Bernie SandersGoing Forward . It seems in the course of a day, the momentum has shifted from joe biden now being the front runner and Bernie Sanders now being the underdog. Reporter its fascinating to be here this was contested territory for a lot of democrats who looked at polling and it was a threerayway race between joe biden, Bernie Sanders and Michael Bloomberg, who as you mentioned spent so much money here on infrastructure and advertising. In the end this race was projected quickly after the polls closed. Joe biden with a pretty resounding victory here in North Carolina. You see his camp citing what happened in South Carolina as a really catalytic thing. He winning that state gave him momentum that changed things here in North Carolina and throughout the south and parts of the midwest as well. They are going to try to capitalize on that Going Forward and i was struck listening to that tape you were playing there of Bernie Sanders in vermont last night drawing the contrast between his record and yb jbs record over the last few years. And really thats the benefit of having this narrowed field. Michael bloomberg out of the way, at least as the two front runners. Michael bloomberg even further back naps what were going to see here in the next few days is Bernie Sanders, the senator from vermont, drawing that contrast and joe biden having to respond to the critiques from the senator from vermont. David, we have talked the last couple days leading up to super tuesday about some of the major democrats coming in behind the former Vice President , coalescing and bolstering the endorsement from jim clyburn. Also taking a look at exit polls from last night, especially in North Carolina, the overwhelming amount of support for the former Vice President has come from africanamerican voters, especially in the south, is ses stounding. They was very confident in even as his campaign was not doing well in the weeks leading up to super tuesday. He was convinced he was going to get the support of black voters, and we did see that. When you look at how it shook out by percentages, he got 6 out of 10 black votes here in North Carolina. So that confidence was met by the reality among black voters. You look at the will tea knee vote, it was a different story. He didnt do as well with them throughout the states in super tuesday. Theres actually subtle investigator lining for Bernie Sanders. You look at how he performed in texas in 2016. He really struggled with latino voters. He got 30 of the vote in texas. This year it was a different story. As you pour through the data that you mentioned, you see the reason for that is when you look at latino voters in texas and other super tuesday states, they say that health care is the most important issue to them. They are very warm to the proposal that Bernie Sanders introduced for medicare for all. You couple that for what he said about tuitionfree college. For a lot of them, Bernie Sanders seems to be their candidate. So again, we havent a senatnar field here. Were going to see much more of a contrast drawn between joe biden and Bernie Sanders. David, well let you keep looking through those polls. Still ahead, we have so much more to talk about include iing what congressman jim clyburn had to say about joe bidens big night following his endorsement the. Plus a dead hi tornado in nashville. When i was asked what was my intent with the endorsement, i said i was trying to create a surge for joe biden. I knew that just to win South Carolina was not good enough. He need ed to win it big. And just even winning it big would not be good enough unless it was done in such a way that the people in North Carolina and virginia and people down b in alabama, tennessee, i followed up by endorsement with visits to North Carolina. And then i did robocalls into tennessee, into alabama, arkansas and North Carolina. And so i feel that people got the message. A lot of folks basically saying joe biden is where he is because of that man. That was congressman jim clyburn of South Carolina. He was reacting to bidens big wins last night in the role he played in all of it. Not only in his home state, but across the south in which biden performed well. Well get to more results from super tuesday. But 24 hours we had tragedy to report out of tennessee. Today were getting a better picture of just how devastating that tornado was that struck nashville and other parts. 24 people were killed. Well go now to meteorologist bill karins for an update on that. We were saying yesterday, we were going on the air, initial reports two people dead. Unfortunately, that number has skyrocketed. We knew a tornado had gone through the major city. I think it was an ef2 or ef3. That rarely ever happens. So we had two fatalities, but what we learned was in a rural area, they had 18 people die in a twomile stretch. And there were children that per you sha ished this their homes too. It was one of the worst tornadoes in tennessees history. It was one thunderstorm that produced three or four tornadoes from one thunderstorm. It was incredible damage. It was very strong tornado. I think the winds were at least 165 miles per hour. So they are saying 77 people are missing. A lot of those people they survived and left the area, but they are still trying to find that many people so the death toll could go up. We have a Severe Weather threat today too. We have a watch over southern mississippi and alabama. So our storm system and our active weather in the south is still continuing. We have a severe thunderstorm watch in here in areas of west texas. So all through the south, numerous areas with a ton of rain. This tornado watch includes jackson, mississippi. Theres no warnings right now. Theres no one thats heading into their basements or safe rooms seeking shelter like we were this time yeed. But these storms could produce isolated tornadoes. The other threat its been so wet in areas of the south that flash flood iing is going to be problem too. We have 15 Million People under flash flood watches from baton rouge to birmingham, montgomery, atlanta. So throw some airport delays inside this also. As far as the rainfall totals go, it looks like by the time were done with this, some of these areas of the brighter oranges here and reds, we have another two to three inches of rain. Well have a flash flood threat and then all the water runs into the rivers. Well proebl get some river flooding problems. The cut offline is Charlotte South wards and jacksonville, florida, north wards. So your forecast today, a nice day in the midatlantic. Enjoy the 60s in d. C. But then enjoy the 41 in minneapolis. Colder air will come in. Well talk about snow in the great lakes throughout thursday and friday. One of the worst tornadoes in tennessee history. And just imagine that community. Its a small community. 18 lives lost in a 2mile stretch. I think two important things to mention. The governor of tennessee declaring a state of emergency and President Trump going to be heading there later this week to visit the site of the d devastation. Divided Supreme Court yesterday increased the ability of states to prosecute undocumented immigrants and other people who do not have Work Authorization in the u. S. If they provide false Social Security numbers or other information on job applications. With the courts conservative justices in the majority, the 54 ruling overturned a 2017 Supreme Court decision that voided the convictions of three restaurant workers for using other peoples Social Security numbers fraudulently. In an opinion written, kansas did not unlawfully encroach on federal authority. However, liberal Justice Steven briar said Immigration Law gave federal authorities the sole responsibility to police fraud committed to obtain eligibility to work. The Trump Administration backed the cause saying that Congress Never meant to carve out an immigrationrelated exception. Still ahead, youd think lst night was just about a race to the nomination. There were some congressional races to watch on super tuesday as well. Including alabamas senate race where Jeff Sessions is fighting for his old seat. Well show you those results, coming up next. And i keep looking a at this thing closely because it keeps changing and getting closer. This is as close to tied as you can be without actually being tied. Were trying to figure out exactly where the outstanding voters. Were looking at san antonio, fort worth, a el paso. See if that beto orourke endorsement has an impact. There it is. Joe biden has taken the lead. Lock at that. 1200 votes. Wow. Realtime. Steve kornacki always in realtime. When he fell behind Bernie Sanders, then everyone remembers South Carolina. Changed the game. Heres where things settled in texas when voter hs their say. Biden the projected winner with 33 to Bernie Sanders 29 . So nbc news is projecting that alabamas senate race is going to head to a runoff. 2 points separates Jeff Sessions and tommy opportunituperville. Sessions, who had a turbulent relationship with the president , touted his support for the president and his agenda. When no one else dared to do it, i endorsed donald trump. People thought i was nuts. Some of you thought i was nuts. Us heard from you. And where was my opponent . The one well be facing in the runoff. When the battle was in doubt, you know where i was. On the front lines. Where was he when President Trump needed him . What did he do for trump . Never said a kind word about him that i can find. Never gave a single penny of his millions to the trump campaign. So one thing is clear. The
