Most of the rest of the news media was later than that. By the second year, the Trump Presidency knows everyone in the media called donald trump a liar repeatedly. The Washington Post now keeps an official count of Donald Trumps lies. References to donald trump as a racist slowly increased overtime and they were always met with challenges. How do you know hes a racist. The news media has gone through years of hair splitting on the differences between saying something racist and being a racist as if there is a difference. Historians will not go through the same struggle that the American News media has been going through for years on whether or not donald trump has been a racist. An overt racist like his father arrested at a ku klux klan rally in 1927. They will match his language as a candidate in 2016 to the segregationist alabama governor George Wallaces language when he ran for president in 1968 and historians will see it is virtually the same. As we showed you, that comparison between George Wallace and donald trump during the last campaign. His Campaign Manager from 1968 came on this program to tell you that when he listened to donald trump campaigning, he was hearing George Wallace campaigning. Donald trumps racism would be very clear to historians and it will be in the congressional record from new jersey that introduced a resolution in the house of representatives supported fully by the leadership of the house of representatives and guaranteed a vote and that resolution condemns President Trumps racist comments directed at members of congress. The resolution strongly condemns president Donald Trumps racist comments that legitimized a hatred of new americans and people of color by saying our fellow americans who are immigrants and those who may look to the president like immigrants should go back to other countries. By referring to immigrants and Asylum Seekers as invaders and by saying that members of congress who are immigrants or those of our colleagues who are wrongly assumed to be immigrants do not belong in the congress or in the United States of america. The majority leader of the house, steny hoyer said this resolution could be voted on as early as tomorrow. No resolution like it has ever passed the house of representatives. This resolution will help define donald trump in history and the latest racist outburst will help define republican members of congress in history. Tonight the Editorial Board of the Charlotte Observer published an editorial called are you okay with a racist president , republicans . Thats in a headline. Racist president. The editorial says our leaders need to stand up and say something. But the Editorial Board pointed out that the Republican Party is firmly Donald Trumps party now. They are bowing to the worst of who we are. And what about trump voters . Are they okay with a racist president . If you are looking for logic in Donald Trumps latest public outburst and there may not be any, logic would dictate that donald trump believes his voters are not only okay with it, but they want a racist president. The more racist he is, the more energetically his voters will vote for him once again and maybe a little help from the russians, donald trump can squeak out an Electoral College victory with absolutely no hope of actually winning the most votes against whoever the democrats nominate. The wall street journal poll which we will discuss later shows the four top candidates for president beating donald trump in one on one polling. Donald trump doesnt want to run against any of those four candidates. Instead he wants to run against four members of the house of representatives who are not running for president. They are all women of color. They held a joint press conference this afternoon to respond to Donald Trumps racist attacks against them. We want to give back to the business of the American People and why we were sent here, reducing the cost of prescription drugs and addressing the Health Crisis of gun violence and the racial wealth gap. And yes, making sure that families stay together. I also would like to just underscore the fact that despite the occupant of the white house attempts to marginalize us and to silence us, please know that we are more than four people. We ran on a mandate to advocate and represent those ignored, left out, and left behind. Our squad is big. Our squad includes any person committed to building a more equitable and just world. That is the work we want to get back to. And given the size of this squad and this great nation, we cannot, we will not be silenced. Right now the president is committing human rights abuses at the border, keeping children in cages, and having human beings drinking out of toilets. This president who has been credibly accused of multiple crimes including colieuing with a Foreign Government to interfere in the election, this is a president who has overseen the most corrupt administration in our history and pursued an agenda to allow millions of americans to die from a lack of health wear while he transfers millions in tax cuts to corporations. This is a president who said grab women by the pussy. This is a women who called black this is a president who called black athletes sons of bitches. This is a president who called black people who come from black and brown countries, shitholes. This is a president who has equated neo nazis with those who protest against them in charlottesville. This is a president who openly violated the very value our country aspires to uphold. Equality under the law. Religious liberty, equal protection and protection from persecution. To distract from that, he is launching a blatantly racist attack against four duly elected members of the house of representatives, all of whom are women of color. The recent tweets and words from the president are a continueuation of his lay book racist playbook and we cannot allow these hateful actions to distract us from the critical work to hold the inhumane conditions that is separating children from their loved ones and caging them in horrific conditions. This president does not operate in good faith. Thats one thing, but second to the previous question as well, weak minds and leaders challenge loyalty to our country in order to avoid challenging and debating the policy. This president does not know how to make the argument that americans do not deserve health care. He does not know how to defend his policies, so what he does is attack us personally. And that is what this is all about. He cant look a child in the face and he cant look all americans in the face and justify why this country is throwing them in cages. It was documented. They were guilty of housing discrimination here in the city of new york. That is the history of his family and donald trump is a racist. This does seem and it feels to me like its a change, but a change primarily in the American News media and the Comfort Level of the mainstream news media with actually facing and addressing the president of the United States as racist. You and i and the folks on this panel knew who he was coming down that escalator and never thought twice. The media has taken the news media comes to term with it. You can talk to any person of color when he talked about birtherism, we heard that dog whistle loud and clear. No question this president was a racist. This is more of how do we diversify the newsroom to have opinion that reflect the American People and our opinions and this is important because we need to say a spade is a spade. This president ial election coming up has to be spoken in clear language that every american can understand. The stakes are so high. We never had a president under so many investigations and never been such a smell and stink of corruption. What he does well is divides the American People and tries to put us into every corner. As every reelection is a referendum on the incumbent, republicans and voters are going have to decide if the base activation strategy is sufficient to let them cover up the fact that they are going to have to go out and cast a vote and go in that voting booth and say well, its Hillary Clinton versus donald trump. I dont know. They have to seriously go in and say i know this guy is one hat short of a clan rally and i know this guy is an outright flagrant racist and that is the end of the day. The decision folks have to make in the voting booth come november of next year and one that has a lot of consequences that are not only for trump, but the Republican Party. Its such a good point. When the evidence gets larger and larger. The voter had a certain amount of evidence that donald trump was racist last time around and i know trump voter who is i never thought of in that category, but i still dont think of them in that category, but now they have so much. Years more evidence and this weekend as evidence. For the trump voters i know who do i do not think are racist, i dont see how they can explain their vote. I dont see how either. When we connect the dots, the moment he declared he was putting a target on the mexicans, saying they were rapists, every latino heard the dog whistle. You connect the dots and realize this president was trying to include a Citizenship Question in the census and became raving mad because it was thrown out by the Supreme Court and the reason he wanted it and these are his own strategists, he was trying to create republican white, not hispanic districts. Republican white nonhispanic. He is trying to create a minority with majority of individuals. My child right now under 6 years old, they represent the largest generation of americans, but they also represent the majority of minority. There is no majority. How do we move forward and prepare the nation in this beautiful fabric to achieve that ark of justice we aspire to every day if we do not hold what he does every day and that is reprehensible and that is antipatriotic and antiamerican.
