year's day. it's a place where thounds come every year to receive life-saving care. it's a place where a man was found deadrom assault this morning. montgomery county police ae investigating a hmicide that happened inside suburban hospital in bethesda. the body of a40-year-old n was discered inside the facility this new year's morning. fire and rescue received a call for a stabbing police are not saying who made that call. >> at 10:29 this morning, montgomery countyolice received a call foran assault that had just occurred at suburban hospit, received trauma to t upper body. he was found inan area inside the hospital nonpatient care area. he was pronounced dead at the scene. >> rerter: police are providing few detailsn their invtigation. they say the victim had been an employe of the hospital for the st four years. t they're not ying what kind of job he had. and they're notaying who found him. evidence technicns could be seen around t loading dock area of the hospital, taking pictures and gatheri evidence. lice say they don't have a suspect description at is time, buthey're confident the assailant left the hospital. >> ficers conducted a thorough search of every level roo in the hospil. we were able to determinehat staff and patients, visitors who were already in the hospitl, were not endangered. >> reporter: the hospital was placed on lockdown for about four hours. no patients or visitors we allowed to ter or leave. ambulances were reroutedo other hospitals, and an incident like this is unheard of at this prestigiouhospital which is one of the region's top trauma cente. >> this is the first time that i can remember certainly since i have been empyed at suburban hostal for 14 years. >> reporter: hospal officials say that today's crime, as well as the lockwn and ensui investigaon did not impact patient care. and as i said fore, everything is ck to norm here at suburban hospal. t this point, police have not releasethe identity of the victim. th say they expect at that point, walk-in patients to the er were turned away and ambulances were derted to other hospitals while investigatorssearched the entir225-bedfacility. >> we immediately put into effect our disaster protocols. so after we locked down, we started a sies of e-mail streams to all hospital staff, infming them every 15 minutes what was going on. and the in turn would tell the patients and vsitors who were here. >> reporter: for some it result in an extra ur or so to their hospital isits. >> we took our kid in the pediatric emergency department, andried to leave the hospital, and we wen't allowed to leave. so nobody told uswhy. we just had to show our ids when we got out. >> rerter: while investigators spoke of their efforts on the hpital campus concern spread far beyondhe hospital into the surrounding neighborhood. >> there i a criminal that's loose in our neighborhood, at lae. we would like to be informed of thatso that w can keep our resides in a lockdown situation he wasushedo the hospital whe he later died. his name has not been released. the cause the fire is still under investition. he u.s. capitol was evacuatedoday after a cmercial plane headed into
