campaign staffer howard brooks -- sources say campaign staffer howard brooks has admitted to the money order purchases. he's gotten immunity for relatives who forged signatures in an effort to conceal their origin in cash contributions. brooks agreed to wear a wire for the fbi. it's unclear who or what led the fbi to geoff thompson. the city paper reported last june thompson got around limits to his own campaign contributions by getting his companies and many employees to contribute to his candidates. it's called bundling. it's all legal unless the feds can prove there was fraud, forgery or conspiracy. >> the influence of money, campaign contribution and all the rest of that and what we do has gotten out of hand. >> reporter: no word tonight from jeffrey thompson. he's an accountant and owns the firm chartered health. it's a medicaid management provider with a $320 million contract from the d.c. government. >> you keep talking about this raid on his house. what were they looking for? >> good question. nobody knows for certain. the irs was part of the raid with fbi. of course, they're looking for documents. lawyers familiar with this process say if thompson had already been questioned by the feds, he likely wouldn't have anything incriminating in the house. maybe the feds are merely sending a message to others out there come forward now before we call on you. williams and connolly, big prestigeous law firm who jeff has represent him. heated debate in the floor of the general assembly today at the capitol in virginia, 31 people arrest ford refusing to leave the steps of the statehouse as they protested recent anti-abortion legislation, but today some lawmakers expressed outrage at the images of s.w.a.t. teams and standoffs with those demonstrators. fairfax-- today aol became company no. 8 to cut ties with the rush limbaugh show. the he's been hemorrhaging advertisers ever since calling a georgetown university student a slut last week. limbaugh has since apologized for those comments after fluke testified on capitol hill about contraception. 10 states including virginia get the campaign 2012 spotlight tomorrow, but ohio is considered the super tuesday prize. today mitt romney and rick santorum spent their days in the buckeye state. newt gingrich is focused on georgia and tennessee and ron paul campaigned in idaho. 437 delegates are up for grabs in tomorrow's super tuesday contest, 49 right here in virginia. we sent our peggy fox to find out what awaits voters when they reach the polls. >> reporter: virginia doesn't act like it's holding the presidential primary tomorrow unless you catch those sporadic handmade ron paul signs which look a bit sad compare god last november's sign-o -mania -- compared to last november's sign-o-mania elections. >> we always anticipate a lot of voters because we want to have everyone who is eligible to vote. >> reporter: while she hopes for a busy day, election manager judy flagg is realistic. >> it's going to be slow. >> here's the sad. ballot it. couldn't be er. one question, two candidates, but there's a -- simpler, one question, two candidates, but there's a concern some voters won't like the choices. only mitt romney or ron paul, no newt gingrich or rick santorum even though ironically they both live in fairfax county. the county registrar cameron quinn is expecting questions about why the two aren't there. >> reporter: you have a lot of people who weren't expecting to be front runners at a point in time they should have collected signatures. they just didn't get their act together fast enough. voters will be told they must choose between romney and paul. >> there's a lot of activity and questions about can i do a write-in vote and the answer is no, not in virginia. >> reporter: state law prohibits write-ins during primaries. they're only allowed in general elections. the presidential primary will cost virginia about $3 million, yet because it's not much of a race little attention and few dollars are being spent in the commonwealth, peggy fox, 9 news now. >> virginia lawmakers had hoped an earlier primary would have an impact on the national race, but now it maryland's hand fun permit law is unconstitutional -- handgun law unconstitutional. the judge said it needed to show a good and substantial reason to carry a handgun infringes the second amendment right to bear arms and the judge says the maryland law is not specifically tailored to the state's public safety interest. an appeals court denied requests by loughner to end his forced medication. loughner is the suspect in the deadly shooting rampage in tucson, arizona. today's ruling allows authorities to keep giving loughner drugs all aimed at making him psychologically fit to stand trial. a teenager wounded in last week's ohio shooting has been transferred to a rehab unit. 17-year-old nick wozzeck was wounded in the neck, arm and back. a second teen-ager was released and a third was nicked in appear ear. three other students were -- an ear. three other students were killed. breaking news we've followed all afternoon, a school bus accident in calvert county. it happened just before 4:00 along route 2 at pushaw station road. this video was uploaded to www.wusa9.com by pamela schilling. you can see how the fedex truck rammed into the back of the bus. witnesses tell 9 news that bus was stopped when it was hit. four students were on board. two of them were taken to the hospital with some minor injuries. the school bus driver was also transported and the driver of that fedex truck is still being checked out. we'll bring you more information as we get it in. a d.c. judge today ordered a southeast man held with no bond on accusations that he mushedded a man over dog waste in his -- murdered a man over dog waste in his yard. bruce leshan brings us the story. >> reporter: this is far from the first time ellsworth colbert has been accused of assault, but his lawyer insists this case has very little to do with dog poop. >> the two gentlemen with the pitbull accosted my client. my client continues to walk away. anybody who is telling you this case has anything to do with dog poop doesn't know what they're talking about. >> reporter: but detectives have a different story. they say coal vert was furious at his victim -- colbert was furious at his victim robert wright because the dog he was walking was contaminating his tidy front yard. colbert allegedly approached the owner up the straight, walked straight up to wright and stabbed him in the neck. >> this is not typical. this is not business as usual around here. >> reporter: colbert shuffled into the courtroom here in leg irons and handcuffs with his head down. you could barely hear him when he said patch of black ice. wow. that's what happened this morning in columbus, ohio. it caused some collisions and boy, that is amazing stuff. we're happy to report no one was hurt, but look at that. dump trucks were called to the scene to try and clear up the problem. people from ohio, parts of maryland and even virginia saw some snow today and it could prove to be winter's last gasp. >> reporter: i'm kristin fisher in spotsylvania which got 2 to try inches of snow after a winter with -- 3 inches of snow after a winter with almost none of it. >> this is about the worst we've had. >> this is about the most we've seen so far this year of. >> reporter: some spotsylvania county students wanted more snow. they wanted enough for a snow day. many sounded off on twitter. one student wrote congrats to spotsylvania and stafford county for getting everyone in school before the snow started. another wrote 4 to 6 inches. why you not let us out? the reason was with 500 vdot trucks deployed, the roads were clear. the spotsylvania county schools canceled all afternoon activities today, but the schedule should be back to normal by tomorrow. in spotsylvania i'm kristin fisher, 9 news now. some areas hit hard by tornadoes last week are now dealing with snow. a blanket of wet snow is covering the indiana town of henryville. a tornado friday devastated that town. indiana officials say the snow will slow the clean-up effort because it's making things slippery and concealing some potential hazards. parts of kentucky are also getting snow. the national weather service issued a winter weather advisory for much of the state. in north carolina three children from the same family were sucked from their home by a tornado but survived with relatively minor injuries. their mother latonya stevens says she has no recollection of the tornado. she remembers being on the second floor of the home sitting in the hallway and the next thing she knows she was still sitting down but only one of her four children were still sitting beside her. >> i just held her and i started rocking and i started praying and i didn't know after that. i just started screaming. >> you can see the incredible damage that tornado did to her house. the tornado sucked two of la tonya's children into the backyard. a third was thrown more than 50 feet, but again cuts and bruises, but no serious injuries. as we head into spring the d.c. area gets its fair share of weather including tornadoes, but how would you be alerted if there's a tornado in the area? >> reporter: i'm anny hong at the national weather service in sterling. this weather radio is the best way to keep you and your family safe in case of a tornado. we also wanted to find out how our communities would be warned. with new upgrades to its radar in sterling, virginia, meteorologists will be able to better analyze the returns like rain, snow and severe thunderstorms that could form into tornadoes. >> this radar will allow the meteorologists to go in and see where there are areas of high winds or rotation. >> reporter: once the national weather service issues a tornado warning, emergency managers with the affected counties are contacted and within minutes alerts go out. office of emergency management officials at montgomery, loudoun, fairfax and arlington counties all have systems set up to send out text alerts to cell phones and e-mails, but that's only if you sign up through their website. >> we also rely on social media. all of our text messages are hooked into twitter and facebook. >> then, of course, there is our seasoned professional here topper shutt who along with your entire team are very serious about making sure people get these alerts. >> we'll wake you up. we put it on our facebook and twitter and our weather app is pretty good. i'm not just saying that. it's pretty good stuff. we had snow south of town. does that sound weird, south of town and it's march? let's have a live look outside. we're looking at really clearing skies across most of the metro. most of the snow showers are south of us and temps are on the brisk side. if you're headed out, bundle up, 40 officially downtown, winds still out of the northwest at 9. it will calm town even more. dew point is 24. so -- calm down even more. dew point is 24 and has dropped and pressure continues to rise at 30.26 inches of mercury. here's a look at radar. these are all snow showers. some are green which indicates rain, but trust me, they're all snow showers. everything is pushing off south and east moving through southern maryland and the northern neck. the folks in the northern neck had 3 inches of snow today, unbelievable. live doppler 9000, a couple snow showers south of fredericksburg, everything else across the bay or down into southern maryland. the real bull's eye in terms of the snowfall was out into southwestern virginia about 40 miles or so west, northwest of lynchburg. they had about 9 inches of snow around buchanan. right now upper 30s primarily, 38 rockville, 38 also in bethesda, looking at 38 in great falls, 39 reston. still 42 in college park. now you factor in the wind. this is what you need to dress for, feels like 27 in gaithersburg, 26 in leesburg and feels like 32 in manassas. so here is the deal. colder but then warmer, can't stay cold long. colder tonight, chilly tomorrow and then milder wednesday and flat out warmer on thursday. here's the deal. for tonight evening flurries, clearing, colder, probably take that evening flurry out for 7:00, lows 22 to 32, winds northwesterly at 10. unlike the past few weeks we've had most everybody goes below freezing tonight, even downtown, maybe 29, 25 in rockville, 26 or 25 in reston. tomorrow morning sunshine, but a cold start, temperatures in the 20s and 30s and by afternoon a nice day but a little on the brisk side, mostly sunny, high temperatures 46 to 50 and winds south, southwest at about 10. next seven days it gets warm ever, really does. we bounce back in the 60s as -- warmer, really does. we bounce back into the 60s, upper 60s thursday, maybe light rain or showers late friday, not a real power packed system and 50s and 60s over the weekend with sunshine, but we do lose an hour. spring forward, put your clocks ahead one hour before you go to bed saturday. tell you, what these bounties and football, what a mess. >> it defensive coordinator met with nfl investigators in new york today to discuss his mega money bounty system. he admitted rewarding his players with thousands of dollars in payoffs over the last three seasons for big hits. now his time with other teams including the redskins are under the microscope. earlier today we caught up with former redskin lavar arrington who played under williams and says these big hits are a part of football. >> whether there's bounties out there or not, i think it's clear that guys are going out there on defense to try to, you know, knock a guy out. i mean that's kind of the culture of the game. >> and the other teams williams coached for could come under investigation as well which includes tennessee and jacksonville as well as head coach of the bills. williams is now defensive coordinator with the rams. another former redskins defensive coordinator greg blache who replaced williams in 2007 said he was aware of the bounty system here and immediately put an end to it when he took over. former redskins matt bowen and philip daniels came out this week admitting there was a bounty system in place while williams was here as defensive coordinator and reports out this week are suggesting that a bone crushing hit by daniels and andre carter on peyton manning, this hit here, october, 2006, was the start of the qb's neck problems. his head gets bent backwards. the helmet gets ripped off. former colts head coach tony dungy said today he's pretty sure the redskins had a bounty on manning for that game. on the dan patrick show he said just listening to their guys talk it does sound like it. when you see bowens and daniels' comments that this is what we had done, yeah it, makes me think that. >> if you're going to nip this in the bud and what i mean by that is influence other defensive coordinators and other players to stop putting money in order to put somebody out of a game, you got to cut it off at gregg williams. >> the nfl says they will make a final decision on punishment regarding bounty gate before the nfl owners meeting starts march 26th. this has been getting a lot of buzz on our facebook page, lot of viewers from both sides
