Lest we forget, and before we decide if we can forgive, let’s pause for a not-so-quick review of what sent former U.S. Rep. Steve Stockman to federal prison for 10 years back in 2018. We’ll do so via the press release issued by the U.S. Department of Justice on Nov. 7, 2018, a date — the day after Election Day — that somehow seems appropriate for a statement categorized as dealing with “financial fraud” and “public corruption.” This is the same DOJ headed then and now by President Donald Trump, who, as part of what’s starting to look like a personal and political friends and family plan, this week used his constitutional power to erase actions of our courts of law, including 80% of Stockman’s debt to society.
